Digital adaptation of the Trail Making Test (TMT) in Argentine adults: preliminary results

Introduction. The TMT (Trail Making Test) is a widely used measure of processing speed (Part A) and executive function (Part B). Digital adaptation allows for more standardized and accessible administration than the paper version. This study presents an initial approach to a digital adaptation of the TMT for Argentine adults, which has not yet been validated. Objective. To evaluate performance on a computer-administered TMT in Argentine adults and its association with age and self-reported measures of executive function (ADEXI) and cognitive flexibility (CSF). Method. 126 community adults (73.8% women; mean age 33.5, range 17-65) completed a digital TMT(PsychoPy), the ADEXI, and the CSF. Results. Mean completion times were 21.0s (SD=4.44) for TMT-A and 37.9s (SD=9.11) for TMT-B. TMT-A and TMT-B scores were significantly correlated ( ρ =.481, p<.001). Age was correlated with both TMT-A (ρ =.545, p.2). Conclusions. The digital TMT-A/B showed association between its parts and stability across random subsamples, along with the expected age-related slowing, though no association with self-reported measures of executive function or cognitive flexibility (ADEXI, CSF), as a first step toward validation in Argentine adults
